Four wedding and a funeral by Richard Curtis

The book that I read is Four wedding and a funeral. These book author is Richaed Cutis and It was published in 1994. The reason that I choose is I remember that my friend recommended this book before. When I heard this novel's title it would be sad or blue novel. But she said it is kind of romantic comedy and then I decided to read this!

In this book, there are lots of characters. But my favourite characters are Charles and Scarlett. Charles is the main character and he is so attractive and also has many girlfriends while he is unmarried. Scarlett is Charles' flat mate. and she is very lively and clumsy. They are best friends. When they are together, it would be funny. They are always being late to friends' wedding and then always regret but they are not changed. That part that they are together is my favourite part!

This book story is based on real love and reminded importance of formal wedding. The main characters Charles and Carrie fall in love at a friend's wedding because Charles and Carrie both are attractive. but next day, she goes away without words because she is American, so she has to go back to America. In Second wedding, Charles meets Carrie again. but he realises that she already has boyfriend to marry. The Third wedding is Carrie's wedding. In there, Charles decide to give her up. But then his friend Gareth pass away by heart attack. In Gareth's funeral, he rethinks about what is real love and importance of wedding. The last wedding is Charles's wedding and there, they meet again and Charles decides to quit this marriage.

I don't write the ending but, I think it is really famouse novel and film, most people alreay watched and read!

But you didn't read or watch, I recommend this exactly! and also I'm going to watch this film :]

Great Expectations

This book is about a child who's parents are dead and he lives with his sister and her husband , and there are an old rich women ask his cousin to bring a child to play in her palace but when he went there he found a lot of clues and he tried to solve the mystery. My favourite character was Pip, and the least was Mrs Joe . I would like to see this story as a film even if they do it as a cartoon because I couldn't stop reading the book , and of course I recommend it because it's a real page-turner .

He was an American author,poet,editor,and literary critic. Today,he is known and loved for his novels by a lot of people,and also his works are translated into many languages.He was good at writing mystery and detective novels and decribing the darkness in people's minds.His famous works were 'The Gold-Bug','The Black Cat' and 'The Murders in the Rue Morgue'.I think that 'The Murders in the Rue Morgue' is the one of the most important works because in this novel, Poe introduced C.Auguste Dupin who was the first significant fictional detective.Afterwards,Arthur Conan Doyle who created the Sherlock Homes series and Agatha Christie who wrote Hercule Poirot and Miss Jane Marple followed Poe's works.

'Tale of Mystery and Imagination' is a collection of short stories.'The Gold-Bug' and 'The Murders in the Rue Morgue' are in this book.Other stories would be also fascinating and enchanting for you.You should try this book before you die....

1Q84

This novel was originally written in Japanese and published in 2009. The auther is Haruki Murakami, one of the most popular authors in Japan. The novel quickly became a sensation. Its first printing sold out the day it was released and one million copies sold within a month.

The events of this story take place in 1984. In Japanese, the pronunciation of 9 is same as Q so the title "1Q84" means 1984.

The narrative is composed of two storylines. Each storyline has a main character. The chapters of odd numbers are about a woman whose name is Aomame. She works for a sports club as an instructor but she murdered a man at the beginning of the story. (I haven't found out yet why and for whom she killed him.) She gradually realised she had a problem with her memory. She was confused about it and tried to think the world was funny, not her. And then she named this funny world "1Q84". Q is for "question mark".

And the chapters of even numbers are about a man whose name is Tengo. He is a math teacher. He also has written several novels wishing to be a writer. One day he found a story which had been written by a 17-year-old girl. While her story was very interesting, he realised the literary style was not good enough to be published. So he contacted the girl to ask if he could revise it for her to win a new writers' prize. Now he is planning to sell her to the public as a writer even though he feels guilty about that.

It took a couple of chapters to get into this novel but I enjoy reading it now. I'm curious to find out how those two storylines are connected each other.

'Barack Obama' by Carl W Hart

I have just finished reading this book and really enjoyed it. It is the biography of Barack Obama and I did not expect that the book would be so much absorbing. The book is very informative as I learned many facts from it.

Diary of a young girl by Anne Frank

This book is about a young girl during the second war who writes a diary while she is hiding with her family and other people in an annex in Netherlands.

I really enjoy this book because it is easy to read and also very interesting. At the end of the book I was moved and it made me figure how awful it must have been for those people.

I definitely recommend it.

Christmas cards

This year I’m sending Christmas cards for my family and my friends. I went to Clinton Cards yesterday and its wide range of cards made me excited!

In Japan, sending Christmas cards is not so popular while sending New Year cards, which are called “Nengajo”, is very important. Especially for bosses at work! I used to get a bit nervous before writing messages on New Year cards for my bosses… because we need to use formal expressions which we don’t use in conversations and cards must be delivered exactly on 1st January. For your friends, you can write any messages as you like and it’s acceptable if cards are delivered after 1st January (but before 7th January at the latest).

Anyway, at first I planned to send New Year cards for my family and my friends this year as well but I changed my mind and decided to send Christmas cards following the proverb “When in Rome, do as the Romans do”.
